Overview

The Shopify integration automatically syncs your products between your store and Highcovery. We can also handle affiliate tracking directly from your theme.

Setting up the connection

1

Select the platform

Open Connections in the dashboard and click the Shopify logo under Product Sync.
2

Copy the API key

Highcovery generates an API key for your store. Copy it with the button next to the field – you’ll need it in the Shopify app in a moment.
3

Install Highcovery from the Shopify App Store

Open the App Store inside your Shopify admin, search for Highcovery and install the app on your store. Confirm the requested permissions.
4

Paste the API key into the app

After installation the Highcovery app opens directly in your Shopify admin. Paste the API key you copied earlier and save.
5

Connection is established automatically

The app reports back to Highcovery with your API key and store domain. The dashboard status switches to Connected and product sync starts.
The API key links your Shopify store to your Highcovery account. Without it, the app in Shopify doesn’t know which Highcovery account it belongs to.

Disconnect or re-verify

On the Connections page you can at any time:
  • Disconnect – stops the product sync and removes the app binding in Highcovery. The app in Shopify is not automatically uninstalled; remove it manually in your Shopify admin under Apps if you want to.
  • Re-verify – when the affiliate status is red, you can trigger a manual verification.

Why does a connection break?

An existing connection can switch to failed for several reasons:
  • App was uninstalled – if anyone with admin access uninstalls the Highcovery app in Shopify, we lose access immediately.
  • Access token expired or revoked – Shopify can revoke tokens, e.g. after security events, plan changes or long inactivity.
  • Store paused, closed or frozen – Shopify blocks API access to stores in these states, which looks like a dropped connection.
  • Webhook failures over time – if Shopify can’t reach us with order or product updates (e.g. due to outages), we flag the connection for re-verification.

Restore a broken connection

1

Check your Shopify admin

Sign in to your Shopify admin and open Apps. Check whether the Highcovery app is still installed.
2

If the app is missing – reinstall

Search for Highcovery in the Shopify App Store and install the app again.
3

Re-enter the API key

Open the Highcovery app in your Shopify admin and paste the API key from the Connections page.
4

Verify the connection

In the dashboard click Re-verify. The connection status updates immediately.
Always use the same API key that belongs to your Highcovery account. A wrong key will link the store to the wrong account.
For recurring problems, contact support@highcovery.com with your store domain and a rough timestamp of the outage – that lets us check server logs efficiently.
